Haikus are brief, elegant poems, which paint vivid pictures using very few words.

The Society of Classical Poets is currently running a Haiku contest. Visit the website to learn about the haiku form and read the submissions.

My contributions:

Urgent chirping birds
Blossoms fingering a wall
Stillness deep within

The moon hangs in the trees.
Crystal cold air mists our breath.
The joyous dog runs.

Web spans a corner.
Delicate spider waiting.
The duster ends it.

Have a go yourself, why don’t you? The Haiku Contest closes on Saturday August 28, 2021 midnight EST. Winners will be announced September 4.
